A man has been arrested following the rape of a woman who was dragged into a wooded area of a town on Bonfire Night.

The 24-year-old from Bournemouth is being questioned about the rape of the woman in her 30s and is being held in police custody. Dorset Police said they were called at around 9.18pm on November 5 after receiving a report that a woman in her 30s had been raped in a wooded area near Maxwell Road in Bournemouth.

The woman had met up with a friend in Charminster when she was approached by an "unknown man". And following a "brief interaction" they walked together to Maxwell Road where the alleged incident took place, said the force.
