NEWBERRY, S.C. —

Two toddlers were shot while playing with a gun at a home in Newberry, South Carolina, according to the Newberry County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities said they were called about 6:35 p.m. Sunday to a home off Wilson Road.

The sheriff's office said they arrived to find a "chaotic" scene with several children, two with gunshot wounds.

Authorities said the children, ages 2 and 3, were both shot, one in the hand and the other in the foot.

One child was taken by Newberry County EMS to an area trauma center, while the second child was taken by helicopter to a trauma center.

Authorities said the preliminary investigation showed the children may have been playing with a gun found in an unsecured location in the home.

The sheriff's office said that none of the wounds appeare
