Several people on Monday were released from jail after being arrested during a protest outside of the Krome Detention Center over the weekend.

According to authorities, the protesters were blocking the entrance of the detention center, and they wouldn't move.

The group said they were protesting what they called “cruel” and “inhumane” treatment at immigration detention centers.

During Saturday's protest, 31 people were arrested.

Only one person remains in jail.

NBC6 spoke to one of the protesters after they were released.

He said he was just there to take pictures when he ended up behind bars.

"This was unexpected to me, but given what the situation was like, I had to assume it was a possibility," Octavo Maran said.
