LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Following last year’s record snowfall , the City of Louisville is renewing its planning efforts for how it handles severe weather.
The city is hiring consultants to find areas of improvement, said Mayor Craig Greenberg, D-Louisville, in a news briefing on Tuesday. The list of investments includes a new metro snow route map, new vehicles and upgrades to ones already in use.
New brine tanks have also been added to the city’s arsenal, bringing the total to more than 24.
Greenberg said the investments will play an important role in keeping people safe on the roads this winter.
“We want to make sure that everyone can travel safely, that our emergency routes remain open and our crews have the tools that they need to do their job safely and effectively,” Greenberg said.
