At 1:25 a.m. on Sunday, the National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory valid from 6 p.m. until Monday 7 a.m. for Southern Erie.
"Total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph," can be anticipated according to the weather service. "The heaviest snow will occur late this evening with peak snowfall rates of up to 1 inch per hour."
"Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute," states the weather service. "Slow down and use caution while traveling. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission remind motorists to adjust speeds based on driving conditions as winter weather impacts Pennsylvania roadways."
