HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A man accused of stealing a man’s truck with his two young children inside was indicted Tuesday.
Joshua Lopes-Keli, 36, was indicted with three counts of kidnapping, second-degree robbery, and unauthorized control of a vehicle.
Father saves children in alleged violent carjacking
The incident occurred Monday, Nov. 24, at around 7 p.m.
According to investigators, Lopes-Keli approached a 30-year-old father and his two children, ages 7 and 3, as they were preparing to leave Nimitz Beach.
When the father declined to give him a ride, Lopes-Keli allegedly shoved the father to the ground and drove away with the children in the car.
The father was able to grab his children and jump out of the moving vehicle, police said.
