The landlord and tenant of a Stockton building where a child’s birthday party was held before a shooting are offering conflicting accounts of how the space was being used. The landlord told ABC10 the site on Lucile Avenue was never intended to host large events and was used for that without permission. The tenant disputes that, saying the landlord knew about the party and spoke with him hours before the shooting. San Joaquin County officials say the event required a permit and none had been filed by either party. The county reported no recent issues at the location.
