CHESAPEAKE, Va. — The Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office spent the morning making sure seniors have what they need for a warm holiday meal. Deputies loaded up their vehicles and fanned out across the city to hand-deliver bags filled with holiday foods and essentials.

Sheriff Dave Rosado said the goal is simple: make sure seniors know they are cared for and seen during a season that can feel isolating for some.

Mary Richardson was among the first to receive her holiday bag. When asked what she was most excited to cook for the holidays, Richardson laughed and said it does not matter as long as it comes with a goody bag.
