SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -- The U.S. Marshals Service arrested a woman wanted out of Stevens County for an incident where her baby overdosed on fentanyl.
According to the Marshals, Briana Smutz was arrested Wednesday, December 3 in Spokane Valley near Argonne Road and Grace Road.
Smutz had a warrant in Stevens County stemming from an incident where her two-year-old child was exposed to fentanyl. Investigators say the baby began to suffer overdose symptoms. Emergency personnel gave the child Narcan and took the baby from Loon Lake to a Spokane hospital.
The Marshals Service did not provide the child's latest status.
The Marshals Service says Smutz left the scene before law enforcement officers arrived.
