NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) -- Power company Con Edison is continuing to work on restoring power in Brooklyn and Staten Island after more than 20,000 customers experienced outages from Friday's storm.

By Saturday morning, Con Edison reported that power had been restored for more than 19,700 residents, with outstanding outages expected to be restored by later in the day.

"The priority for restoration will be critical customer facilities that have an impact on the public, such as mass transit, hospitals, police and fire stations, and sewage and water-pumping stations," read a statement from the power company.
