RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – More than 1,200 people woke up in the dark after losing electricity due to storms making their way through central North Carolina early Wednesday morning.
According to the Duke Energy outage map, over 800 customers are without power in the area near Lake Boone Trail, with the outages reported to be in neighborhoods close to Interstate 440.
The outage was caused due to equipment going offline, Duke Energy reports.
Meanwhile, more than 400 customers lost power along Pleasant Valley Road in Raleigh, the outage map reports. The cause of the outage is not known at this time.
This comes as soaking rain moved into central North Carolina on Wednesday morning, making for a wet commute. Approximately 1-2 inches of rain has also fallen in Durham and Orange counties,
