LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Metro Police (LMPD) arrested a second teenager Wednesday afternoon for allegedly firing a gun near two Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS), several bus stops and a YMCA on Aug 7.

An LMPD spokesperson said several people reported gunshots fired between the 900 and 1100 block of West Chestnut Street just after 8 a.m. on the first day of school.

When officers arrived, police said they did not find any victims.

A preliminary investigation found a teenager fired a gun at 10th and West Chestnut Streets before leaving the area on foot. They were later arrested on Aug. 9 .

Witnesses told LMPD there was a shootout between the original suspect and another person.

LMPD said said they arrested that second person, also a 15-year-old teenager.
