MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Two resolutions regarding the National Guard here in Memphis failed during a county commission meeting on Monday night.

One would have asked Governor Bill Lee not to deploy the National Guard, but instead to invest state resources in a crime lab, among other public safety measures.

While the other would have created terms if the governor does, in fact, deploy the National Guard.

It was an hour-long discussion with back-and-forth moments between county leaders and members of the public.

"You're going to have a generation, several generations of traumatized children because they're going to be seeing these individuals with fatigues, military fatigues on, heavy artillery," said Henri Brooks.
