BRANFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - Police are investigating after a fire in Branford on early Sunday morning.

At around 12:56 a.m. firefighters were called to the Town Transfer Station located on East Main Street after a reported a building fire, the fire department said.

When crews arrived, they found a fully-involved recycling shed extending into the building.

Firefighters quickly tried to put out the fire on the exposed building to prevent any more damage and then worked to extinguish the main fire.

No injuries were reported in this incident.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Officials said due to the damages to the building the Town Transfer station will be closed on Monday and Tuesday for clean up and repairs.
