HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) — A “suspicious package” left outside Boatwerks Waterfront Restaurant Tuesday in Holland was discovered to be harmless, police say.

According to the Holland Department of Public Safety, firefighters and officers responded to the restaurant around noon on Tuesday.

The department said that a restaurant employee saw someone place the package in a tree by the restaurant, get in a car and leave. Everyone was told to remain in the restaurant while officials investigated.

HDPS said that the Michigan State Police Bomb Squad was able to determine that the package was harmless and that it may have been put in the tree as part of a scavenger hunt or part of a Geocache.
