A woman was shot by Philadelphia Police early Sunday morning after pointing a gun at officers, the department said.
Police responded to the area of North 10th Street and West Erie Avenue in Hunting Park just after 4 a.m. for reports that someone had a gun.
Sgt. Eric Gripp said in an update that at the scene officers found a 35-year-old woman holding a gun to her head. Police said the woman was ordered to drop the weapon, but ignored their commands. Sgt. Gripp said police used a Taser on the woman, but she was able to run across Erie Avenue, at which point she pointed the gun at the two officers.
