The opening of an Eastern Market butcher shop and restaurants featuring iconic sliders and Greek cuisine are among the more recent notable happenings within metro Detroit’s dining and food scene. Other highly anticipated openings include a metro Detroit chain of pubs opening its 10th location.

Sadly, other places closed — some temporarily, some for good. For example, a beloved downriver butcher shop will close at the end of the year as the owners are retiring after more than 50 years in business.
